Lawyers of Distinction wishes to welcome Dan Eckhart, Esq., of Orlando, Florida. Mr. Eckhart is a former federal agent and federal prosecutor. He now represents individuals and businesses in a wide range of criminal and civil matters.

Mr. Eckhart is specializes in fraud, narcotics, money laundering, excessive or deadly force cases, False Claims Act/Qui Tam claims, and Asset Forfeiture matters.

Mr. Eckhart’s prior government service includes over twenty years with the Department of Justice and three years with the Department of Treasury. Mr. Eckhart worked as a Special Agent with the U.S. Customs Service and was an Assistant Regional Counsel with the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP). He became a Special Operations Response Team (SORT or SWAT) member and taught deadly use of force throughout the United States.

Mr. Eckhart spent the last ten years of his government career as an Assistant U.S. Attorney (federal prosecutor) in the Middle District of Florida working in the Civil, Asset Forfeiture and Criminal Divisions. As a federal prosecutor, Mr. Eckhart prosecuted individuals for drug trafficking, mortgage fraud, conspiracy, securities fraud, child pornography, income tax evasion, sex trafficking, bank fraud, bankruptcy fraud, embezzlement, wire and mail fraud, carjacking, firearms offenses, immigration offenses, Medicare fraud, and violations of the Bank Secrecy Act. Mr. Eckhart also helped start the Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) Team for the Orlando Division and specialized in money laundering, white collar, and complex drug trafficking prosecutions.

Mr. Eckhart left the U.S. Attorney’s Office to start the False Claims/Qui Tam practice at one of the nation’s premiere products liability firms, Newsome & Melton. Within a year, he was offered the opportunity to become the first General Counsel and Corporate Security Officer at Seaside National Bank & Trust, in Orlando, Florida. After nearly three years with Seaside Bank, Mr. Eckhart decided to fulfill his dream by establishing his own law firm.

He is licensed to practice law in Florida, Kansas and Missouri and is involved in federal cases throughout the country.
