Lawyers of Distinction Member Frances A. Smith, Esq. Opens New Law Practice with Judith W. Ross, Esq.

Lawyers of Distinction member Frances A. Smith, Esq. of Dallas, Texas has joined forces with Judith W. Ross and their new firm is now named Ross & Smith, PC. “I know from experience that Frances is a formidable opponent, having worked with her on various matters over the years,” said Ms. Ross. “I decided I would rather have her work with me than against me.”

Ms. Smith has been honored as one of the Lawyers of Distinction, one of the “Best Lawyers” in America, and in 2011, received the Romina L. Mulloy-Bossio Achievement Award by the State Bar of Texas as the state’s top young bankruptcy lawyer. Ms. Smith helps her clients navigate the bankruptcy process and provides creative solutions for out-of-court restructurings. Ms. Smith is a graduate of the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, is a former chair of the bankruptcy section of the Dallas Bar Association, and a former president of the DFW Association of Young Bankruptcy Lawyers.

Ms. Smith has 18 years of experience, first as a judicial law clerk, then as an associate at Haynes and Boone, LLP working on some of the largest bankruptcies in the country, and then as a partner at Shackelford, Bowen, McKinley, & Norton, LLP where she led the firm’s bankruptcy practice.  Ms. Smith uses her knowledge of bankruptcy and restructuring to zealously represent debtors, creditors, landlords, and purchasers of assets in bankruptcy proceedings across the nation.

Ms. Smith currently serves on the Executive Committee of the John C. Ford Bankruptcy Inn of Court, a professional organization recognized for excellence in providing quality bankruptcy educational programs.
