Lawyers of Distinction member Rebecca Thomas, Esq., of the law firm Thomas & Wickenheiser, located in Quincy Massachusetts recently obtained a settlement in the amount of $750,000.00 in a wrongful death claim. This settlement is very impressive because of the fact that it was obtained less than one year into Thomas & Wickenheiser, existence.
This case involved the death of an 83 year old woman from a 2 1/2 year delay in the diagnosis and treatment of non-small cell lung cancer. At the time of diagnosis, she was wholly metastatic and died within 3 months. Approximately two and one half years prior to her death, a chest CT scan ordered by her primary care physician revealed two nodules on her lung. The interpreting radiolgist recommended she undergo a follow-up CT in 3 months. Her primary care physician not only failed to order a follow-up CT 3 months later, but failed to order any follow-up chest imaging. In fact, she was diagnosed incidentally via a thoracic MRI that her primary care physician ordered for back pain.
Attorney Thomas is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and New Hampshire as well as the state and federal courts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Attorney Thomas is also a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, Massachusetts Women’s Bar Association, New Hampshire Bar Association, and USA500.
Attorney Thomas received her BA from Ursinus College in 1999 and her JD from Temple University, School of Law in 2002.
Given her background handling cases for both sides of complex legal issues, Attorney Thomas has a unique perspective understanding the inner workings of the court system and insurance companies. She has negotiated numerous successful settlements for her clients and has been involved in multiple million dollar plus settlements.
Again, Congratulations to Rebecca Thomas, Esq. Keep up the great work!
