Lawyers of Distinction wishes to welcome new member Alan G. Crone, Esq. Alan G. Crone is a founding member of the Crone Law Firm, PLC. Crone graduated from Memphis State University in 1987 with a bachelor’s degree, and then completed his Juris Doctor at the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in 1990. Former Tennessee Governor Don Sundquist appointed him as Chief Counsel for the Tennessee Department of Employment Security in 1995. Crone was an assistant Shelby County attorney from 1996 to 2002. He also served as Chairman of the Shelby County Republican party from 1999 to 2003. Crone became a member of the Memphis City Council in 2015 and now serves as Special Counsel and Senior Policy Adviser to City of Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland.
In his law practice, he focuses on employment law, business and commercial litigation, protecting intellectual property, business formation and succession planning and partnership/equity holder disputes. His litigation experience includes complex business, commercial and employment-related disputes, personal injury, business divorces, minority shareholder disputes, non-competition and intellectual property litigation and more. While he is licensed to practice law in Tennessee and Arkansas, he has represented clients in courtrooms all over the United States. Alan enjoys cases and legal matters with challenging factual and legal issues that require innovative solutions.
A fifth generation Memphian, Alan is an ordained Roman Catholic Deacon, voracious reader and a devoted husband and father. That his personal role model is St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Jesuits, speaks volumes about him. Seeking God both spiritually and rationally, St. Ignatius taught that because God can be found in our everyday work, all work is important.
His education and active political experience give Alan valuable insight into human behavior and strategic thinking that have proven valuable in both his professional life and in his public service roles.
