Lawyers of Distinction wishes to welcome Douglas R. Horn, Esq. of Independence, Missouri. Mr. Horn is Founder and Lead Attorney of The Horn Law Firm, P.C.. With over 25 years of experience as a Kansas City based personal injury lawyer, Mr. Horn handles a wide-variety of matters with an emphasis in cases involving head, neck, back injuries, fractures and orthopedic trauma, injuries requiring hospitalization/surgery, and wrongful death claims.
Born and raised in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Mr. Horn earned his B.A. degree from Wittenberg University and his J.D. degree from Capital University Law School. Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Horn was a Staff Attorney at Citicorp Acceptance (now Citi). Mr. Horn also practiced insurance defense and construction law before starting Horn Law.
Mr. Horn represents clients in Missouri, Kansas, and throughout the Midwest. Although a majority of Mr. Horn’s cases involve car, truck, and motorcycle collisions, he has a track record of success in representing persons seriously injured or killed in industrial and work related accidents, recreational accidents, medical/medication error, and other catastrophic events.
Mr. Horn is a member of a number of legal organizations, including the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum which recognizes America’s top trial lawyers and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court.
In addition to his private practice, Mr. Horn regularly lectures in the area of personal injury law and litigation, including recent national web-casts in the areas of brain injury litigation, personal injury damages, and handling distracted driving cases.
Mr. Horn also devotes a significant amount of his work and resources to driver safety advocacy. In 2011, Mr. Horn founded Drive By Example, a public service organization dedicated to addressing America’s top driving safety priorities, including distracted driving prevention and teen driver protection.
Using the Drive By Example platform, Mr. Horn has developed a series of driving safety programs to reduce the types of collisions that result in serious injury and roadway fatalities. As a driving safety advocate, Mr. Horn is a frequent contributor to media outlets, including TV, radio, print, and on-line, encouraging drivers to adopt safe driving habits and behaviors.
Mr. Horn also leads The Horn Law Foundation Fund which provides charitable support to a number of non-profit organizations, including Mother’s Refuge, The Women’s Clinic of Kansas City, and other local charities that contribute to raising the community quality of life. He serves on the Mother’s Refuge Board of Directors and as an Advisory Board Member for the Truman Heartland Foundation.
