Lawyers of Distinction Member Gabriela Smith, Esq. Selected 2019-2020 Chairman of the International Law Section of the State Bar of Texas

Congratulations to Lawyers of Distinction Member, Gabriela Smith, Esq., of Plano, Texas, who was selected as 2019-2020 Chairman of the International Law Section of the State Bar of Texas.

Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Gabriela started her career as an associate at Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young, LLP, where she represented clients, among other cases, in high profile federal court litigation (including multi-district litigation), taking and defending depositions, and arguing motions in court. She also counseled clients in connection with cross-border agreements and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. At Stradley Ronon, Gabriela was a founding member of the firm’s Spain and Latin America Practice Group, dedicated to serving clients involved in the U.S. and Latin America.

Gabriela also worked as Project Counsel to several Dallas area companies, assisting them in projects involving analysis of international company data, negotiation of international contracts, and regulatory aspects of doing business abroad.

Currently, Gabriela helps her clients in a variety of international contractual and regulatory matters, and routinely acts as outside General Counsel to companies in the outsourcing, technology, and professional services industries, among others, providing general business law counsel and solutions.

Gabriela routinely is the counsel of choice of Latin American companies doing business in the U.S. and has recently represented a Latin American client in a multinational M&A transaction, representing her Latin American client in negotiations with some of the largest and most renowned law firms and lawyers in the U.S. and Latin America.
Gabriela also represents some of the fastest-growing Dallas-based minority and woman-owned companies.
Gabriela regularly speaks locally and internationally on topics such as “Doing Business in the United States,” “Doing Business in Latin America,” “The Foreign Corrupt Practices Act,” and on domestic and international issues affecting multinational companies.
